I know I am expending waaaaay too much energy on this, but I speak for all of my colleagues when I say once again that Katie is NOT a journalist. She is an over-paid, over-rated, botoxed bleach-blonde, glorified reader of teleprompters. And she has pulled off one of the most impressive numbers on CBS that anyone to date (with the exception of Rather) has yet to pull. $20 million? A year? Anyone ever read The Emperor's New Clothes? Anyone? Anyone?
And here is my prediction, the ratings CBS has enjoyed of late will remain where they have been, even with Miss Perky at the helm: in the toilet. Which is exactly what they deserve for being such morons.

I agree wholeheartedlly. I actually felt a little pang of pity when I thought of Katie being fired from CBS in a year or two at the most and then I thought of $20 million and the pang went away.
I too have never been sucked in by the allure of Couric. I really don't get IT - whatever IT that she is supposed to have. I will say that I am happy a woman is finally being ALLOWED to anchor an evening news program BY HERSELF, though. That is a huge hurdle and it's ridiculous it's just now happening. I actually think Meredith Viera would be a better news anchor than Katie - she's got 20 yrs. of journalism experience before The View to back it up.

Yuck, that perkiness makes me wanna hurl. Altho' I do like Merideth, she should be good, too bad for The View to loose her. Actually I like the team of Diane & Robin on abc.
Thank you! Thank you! I have been saying this every day since it was announced, they acted like it was THE Second Coming, and I am sick to death of all the clamor!!!!! You are SO right!! She is not a serious news journalist and who would / will ever take her seriously??!! Perky does not delver serious news. Any village idiot can read a teleprompter. I also agree that it is not going to begin a mass turn the channel over to CBS news in the evening. Also I heard that included a spot on 60 Minutes. Can you really see her over there with Ed Bradley and Morley Safre? What about Andy Rooney!!?? I think not.
